Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking an entry-level patient care aide for day shift in the 4 S Surgical E department in Port Huron, MI. You will assist with basic patient care activities, maintain a safe and clean environment, and support patients and families with compassionate care.

Under RN supervision, you will perform delegated tasks, adhere to HIPAA and OSHA guidelines, and contribute to a patient-centered care plan. Minimum high school diploma and BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 6 months of job-related experience and/or training.
• BLS certification from ACLS or American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs selected day-to-day patient care activities under RN supervision.
• Maintains an environment conducive to patient well-being and safety.
• Demonstrates unit competencies and respect for developmental and cultural needs.
• Assists with daily activities: bathing, dressing, feeding, mobility, and personal hygiene.
• Ensures HIPAA and OSHA compliance and infection-control practices.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, contributes to the delivery of patient-centered care through: Performance of selected day-to-day patient care activities. Maintenance of an environment that is functionally and aesthetically conducive to patient well-being. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies. Interacts with patients considering their developmental, age-specific, and cultural spiritual preferences.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN in effort to identify/attain treatment goals.
2. Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
3. Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.
4. Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
5. Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
6. Performs other related job duties as requested.

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six (6) month of job-related experience and/or training.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent
