Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is looking for a Nurse Aide-Med Surg-2-North for the Day shift with alternate weekends. Under RN supervision, you will perform routine nursing tasks to ensure patient comfort, safety, and preparedness of rooms for procedures.

You will participate in patient care rounds and collaborate with unit staff to support a high standard of care. The role emphasizes attention to safety, documentation accuracy, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• First aid training is required.
• De-escalation training provided on the job.
• Ability to read and write at elementary level to document care and record data.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic for weight, vital signs, and intake/outtake measures.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with patients and families across diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to multitask and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care and assist with patient comfort and safety.
• Respond promptly to patient call lights and relay needs to nursing staff.
• Observe patients and report changes in condition to the nurse.
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Adapt care to meet individual patient needs.
• Perform tasks such as vital signs, baths, Foley care, and specimen collection following policy.
• Demonstrate safe turning, positioning and transfers.
• Distribute meals and assist with feeding as needed.
• Record food/fluid intake on standard sheets or charts.
• Maintain a clean and safe patient environment and equipment.
