Job summary

Oklo seeks a Safety Analysis Engineer to develop the safety basis for a first-of-a-kind used nuclear fuel recycling facility. You will work on identifying hazards, IROFS designation, and safety program development across radiological, chemical, and fire safety domains.

Responsibilities include ISA support, FHA/NPH analyses, and consequence/likelihood calculations. Candidate should have nuclear safety experience and strong technical writing for a fast-paced startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or nuclear engineering (master’s or PhD desirable).
• 3–5 years of experience in nuclear safety, process safety, or similar high-hazard environments.
• HAZOP and FMEA/PH methods familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain safety basis documents per NRC regulations and guidance.
• Support ISA, Criticality Safety Evaluations, FHA, and NPH analyses.
• Identify and evaluate radiological, criticality, chemical, fire, and natural hazards.
• Identify accident sequences using inductive and deductive methods.
• Perform deterministic consequence calculations for radiological/chemical source terms and doses.
• Compute likelihoods using qualitative and semi-quantitative methods (LOPA).
• Designate IROFS for prevention and mitigation of accidents.
• Develop management measures to ensure IROFS availability and reliability.
