Job summary

Oklo Inc. is seeking a Senior Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer to lead criticality safety evaluations and develop the safety basis for a first-of-a-kind used nuclear fuel recycling facility.

The role covers hazard analysis, code validation, and enforcing regulatory requirements in a fast-paced startup environment. The candidate will architect the NCS program, ensure double-contingency compliance, and coordinate with safety/licensing teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in nuclear engineering, chemical engineering, or chemistry or related field.
• Minimum 5+ years experience performing CSEs as part of a nuclear facility’s safety basis.
• Bonus: 10+ years of evaluating criticality safety for NRC licensed facilities.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate NCS hazards for fuel cycle facilities.
• Perform CSEs to demonstrate subcriticality under normal/abnormal conditions.
• Develop the criticality code validation report and NCS program.
• Document hazard analyses, CSEs, and supporting data.
• Develop the NCS program, methodologies, and management measures.
• Support licensing efforts and safety basis development.
