Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory seeks a PhD intern in the Safeguards Measurements and Advanced Reactor Technologies (SMART) group to support instrumentation development for nuclear material accounting and verification. You will collaborate on experimental work, data analysis, and reporting, with a focus on spectroscopy, chemistry support, and testing of measurement systems for safeguards.

The internship is onsite at the Idaho Falls Campus on a 9x80 schedule.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time in a PhD program studying Nuclear Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum overall 3.0 GPA.
• Authorization to work in the U.S.
• Unofficial transcripts and current class schedule with credits.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with researchers on experimental work, data analysis, and technical reporting.
• Assist development of safeguards instrumentation and measurement technologies for nuclear material accounting and verification.
• Support testing and evaluation of detection or measurement systems for domestic and international safeguards objectives.
