Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory invites an intern to support the Health Physics and Radiological Engineering team in analyzing legacy materials from the SL-1 reactor incident and reconstructing the historical source term using modern methods. The internship is onsite at Idaho Falls with a 4x10 schedule and may offer course credit.

Eligible students are enrolled full-time in relevant programs with a minimum 3.0 GPA and U.S. work authorization (CPT/OPT).

Qualifications

• Enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or master's program in Health Physics, Radiological Sciences, Nuclear Engineering or related field.
• Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT).

Responsibilities

• Support Health Physics and Radiological Engineering team on internship project.
• Collect and analyze legacy materials from INL site.
• Reconstruct elements of the historical SL-1 accident source term using modern analytical methods.
• Translate findings into lessons and measurement strategies for SMR emergency response.
