Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking an intern to support the Health Physics and Radiological Engineering team at the Idaho Falls campus on a 4x10 schedule onsite. Start date and duration vary by project and student availability.

You may be eligible for course credit for this internship. The internship uses the 1961 SL-1 reactor accident as a case study in nuclear forensics and emergency preparedness, guiding measurement strategies for modern SMR responses.

Qualifications

• Enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or master's degree program in a relevant field.
• Minimum overall 3.0 GPA.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT).
• Current Resume or CV.
• Unofficial Transcripts (include current and completed degree programs).
• Current class schedule and number of credits.

Responsibilities

• Support Health Physics and Radiological Engineering team on a SL-1 case study for nuclear forensics and emergency preparedness.
• Collect and analyze legacy materials to reconstruct elements of the historical accident source term.
• Assess radiological consequences and translate findings into lessons and measurement strategies for modern SMR emergency response.
