Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering a summer internship at the Monticello Nuclear Plant in Minnesota. The intern will support maintenance processes, manage work packages, track readiness, and provide business support to a 30-person mechanical maintenance team. The role requires current enrollment in a relevant degree and hybrid in-person work arrangements.

Start date is May 24, 2027, with potential extension based on performance and business needs. Deadlines apply by October 15, 2026.

Qualifications

• Currently a student (Freshman or higher) pursuing a degree in Business or electrical power generation.
• Hybrid work policy with in-person work at Monticello Nuclear Plant.
• Nuclear screening and FFD/AA approval for unescorted access is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support nuclear plant maintenance processes and maintain work packages.
• Track work readiness and provide general business support for a 30-person maintenance team.
• Maintain expense reports and learn how work management and maintenance at a major generating station is coordinated.
• Help coordinate meeting agendas and scheduling.
• This internship may extend beyond the initial term based on performance.
