Job summary

Xcel Energy offers a nuclear facility internship for current students in electrical, instrumentation and mechanical maintenance. The role is anchored at a nuclear plant with a May 24, 2027 start and a hybrid work arrangement that may require in-person commuting to the designated site.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree, available full-time in summer and part-time during the school year, with an interest in power plant operations and hands-on maintenance

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours/week) and part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours/week) at a designated in-person location per hybrid policy

Responsibilities

• Support electrical, instrument and controls and mechanical maintenance at a nuclear plant.
• Set up a breaker tracking and tool checkout program with QR codes/scanners/PM program.
• Collaborate maintenance feedback into optimizing preventative maintenance performance.
• Analyzing feedback/observation data to identify trends and improve performance.
