Job summary

Xcel Energy in Minnesota is seeking two Nuclear Engineering interns for the Prairie Island and Monticello plants. You will join the reactor engineering group to assist with monitoring reactor cores, reviewing daily trend data, and supporting process improvements.

The internship runs with a May 24, 2027 start date and may extend beyond the initial term depending on performance. Eligible students must be enrolled in Nuclear Engineering, able to work up to 40 hours a week in summer, and commute to

Qualifications

• Current student enrolled in Nuclear Engineering program.
• Able to work full-time during summer (up to 40 hours/week).
• Hybrid work policy requires commuting to the designated location.

Responsibilities

• Review nuclear core and plant reactor daily trend data.
• Generate procedure change requests for reactor engineering procedures.
• Assist with new nuclear fuel receipt.
• Improve/automate data collection and analysis related to reactor core components and thermal limits.
