Sargent & Lundy in the United States is seeking a senior Mechanical Engineer to support nuclear uprate projects. You will lead licensing evaluations, apply thermo-fluid principles, and perform detailed calculations for heat balance and plant components. The role includes client interaction, proposal development, and mentoring junior staff.

A strong technical writing background is essential. Expect to collaborate across major systems, interface with project teams, and contribute to bid work with

Qualifications

• BSME from an ABET-accredited program with strong thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
• 10+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Strong report writing and numerical calculation skills.
• Familiar with codes and standards for nuclear plant mechanical design.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis evaluations for nuclear uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics to plant systems.
• Perform consulting work for power uprates in the nuclear industry.
• Prepare heat balances, pumps, heat exchangers, and hazards calculations.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers on power plant tasks.
• Present technical discussions and project status to clients.
• Develop proposals and cost estimates.
• Review others' calculations and drawings for quality.
