Job summary

The Nuclear Medicine technologist at Wellstar assists with safe, age-appropriate patient care by performing department exams and preparing imaging studies. The technologist sets up equipment, positions patients and follows procedures to deliver quality diagnostic images.

Required are an Associates in Radiologic Technology, ARRT Nuclear Technology or Certified Nuclear Med Tech, and BLS certification. The role offers a full-time schedule with career progression and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Education: Associates Radiologic Technology.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year in a clinical setting caring for patients.
• Minimum 1 year of Nuclear medicine experience is preferred.
• Certifications: ARRT Nuclear Technology or Certified Nuclear Med Tech; BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the ability to adjust technique so that patient receives the best study possible and that image quality is maintained.
• Reports problems regarding malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or service provider, ensuring timely correction.
• Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment per infection control policy and department cleaning schedule.
• Verifies proper clinician order for procedure and maintains patient privacy.
• Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data, and assesses contraindicating conditions.
• Follows established preprocedural verification and Time Out procedures when appropriate.
• Preps the patient for the procedure and demonstrates sterile technique.
• Maintains competency with venipuncture and operating NM equipment.
• Organizes schedule, time and priorities to complete activities within timeframes.
