Job summary

Shields Health Care is seeking a PET technologist to provide a professional, caring atmosphere to all customer groups while maintaining a fast-paced, multi-tasked clinical environment.

This is a 10-hour/week position at Sandwich or Harwich on Cape Cod, with Sundays 6a-4:30pm or 7a-5:30pm. Requires state licensure, CPR, ARRT/NMTCB certification, and nuclear medicine experience; pay range is $32-$60 per hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Nuclear medicine experience required.
• CPR certification required.
• ARRT and/or NMTCB certification required.
• Proficiency in starting IVs and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Follow all Shields Health Care policies to ensure patient safety.
• Adhere to NRC, state regulatory, and JCAHO regulations.
• Explain exam procedures to patients at their level of understanding.
• Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure isotope concentrations.
• Perform hot lab responsibilities.
• Ensure patient safety regarding contraindications and hazards.
• Position patients accurately and ensure comfort.
• Maintain visual and verbal contact with patients during exams.
• Complete forms pertaining to the patient’s exam.
• Enter patient data into the Tech Data Entry program.
• Provide and issue films when appropriate.
• Forward PET data to Radiologist after exams.
• Refilm cases as time allows.
• Assist clerical staff as needed.
• Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms.

Job Description:

This is a 10-hour/week position, either at our Sandwich or Harwich locations on Cape Cod:

Sundays 6a-4:30pm OR 7a-5:30pm

What you will do:

• Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
• Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.
• Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.
• Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products.
• Performs all hot lab responsibilities.
• Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.
• Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
• Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
• Complete all forms pertaining to patient’s exam.
• Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
• Provide and issue films when appropriate.
• Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
• Refilm cases as time allows
• Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
• Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.

Required Qualifications

What you need:

• Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which he/she is employed to work
• Must be certified in CPR
• Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
• A minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience is required. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Must be proficient in starting IVs.
• Must be able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties. Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.

Additional Job Description:

Pay range for this position is $32 - $60/hr + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
