Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Nuclear Material Events Professional to join the Regulatory Research team. Located at the REC facility on a 9x80 schedule, with every other Friday off, this role focuses on collecting, reviewing, and coding nuclear material event data and providing analysis support to NRC staff.

The position requires knowledge of NRC rules, abnormal occurrences criteria, and health physics, with opportunities for training and career growth within a multi-level posting.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, review, and code nuclear material event data.
  • Provide event review, analysis, and assessment support to NRC's nuclear material assessment staff.
  • Provide short-term technical assistance and training to the NRC and Agreement States as needed.
  • Perform reviews of material events for the identification of sensitive unclassified information, as well as personal privacy information.
  • Develop new procedures (and/or modify existing procedures) for maintaining NMED.
  • Support the maintenance and upgrade of the NMED Agreement State software (a local standalone system provided to Agreement States)
  • Support the maintenance and upgrade of the NMED database, software, and website.
  • Support the assurance that all computer security requirements are met.
