Job summary

AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER seeks a Major Project Director to lead a multi-billion dollar program. You will direct project management, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and deliver on schedule and budget with executive reporting.

You will oversee a project team, manage EPC/contract resources, and coordinate with regulators and stakeholders to achieve project goals and customer satisfaction. Travel ~50% and on-site work at various locations is expected; base salary ranges from $189K to $245K

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with ten years of qualified experience.
• Experience in major construction, project controls, and contract negotiations.
• PMP certification is required and license is validated.

Responsibilities

• Own overall project execution and direct the project management functions.
• Implement safety programs and pursue Zero Harm objectives.
• Report on project strategy and team needs to executive leadership.
• Establish commercial contracting strategies and negotiate agreements.
• Lead governance with JV partners and drive integrated schedules.
• Manage program budget, contingencies, and risk registers.
• Oversee staff, contractors, and vendor management.
• Ensure readiness for regulatory filings and compliance.
