Job summary

American Electric Power seeks an experienced commercial building project manager to lead major capital construction projects from $40M to $250M for its facilities. You will partner with sponsors, assemble teams, define scope, manage bids, and ensure delivery within budget and schedule.

The role requires strong leadership, risk management, and collaboration with procurement, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Travel and rigorous safety standards are expected as part of project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Computer Science, or related field; five (5) years qualified experience
• Associate’s degree in the same required disciplines with seven (7) years of qualified experience
• High School Diploma/GED with nine (9) years qualified experience
• Two (2) years of experience as a PROJECT MANAGER (Grade 7) OR demonstrated competencies, knowledge and skillset through achieved results in a shorter timeline

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise assigned project activities becoming proficient in all aspects.
• Utilize project management principles and techniques (Waterfall, Agile) and implement them in the organization.
• Support and hold employees and contractors accountable for the AEP System Safety Process, ensuring a safe working environment focused on Zero Harm.
• Develop and manage project/outage plan, schedule, and budget; manage funding reallocations.
• Lead planning meetings and stakeholder presentations; provide clear written and oral reports.
