Role Summary/Purpose

NEC is continually seeking talented Nuclear Licensing Engineers to support our expanding portfolio of projects. As the nuclear industry advances through the development of advanced reactors, small modular reactors and microreactors we are building a team of licensing professionals ready to support projects across the nuclear lifecycle.

Our engineers work with reactor developers, utilities, national laboratories, and government agencies to develop innovative licensing strategies and regulatory solutions for a wide variety of nuclear technologies. You’ll play a key role in helping clients navigate complex regulatory requirements and successfully engage with regulatory bodies.

NEC continually accepts applications for qualified Nuclear Licensing Engineers to support current and future projects across our growing nuclear portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Develop licensing strategies and regulatory approaches for new reactor designs.
• Prepare and review licensing submittals, technical reports, topical reports, NRC correspondence and more.
• Support licensing activities for advanced reactors, SMRs, microreactors, research reactors, and fuel cycle facilities.
• Interpret NRC regulations, regulatory guidance, and industry standards to support licensing decisions.
• Coordinate technical inputs from reactor design, safety analysis, PRA, mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering teams.
• Support environmental permitting, audits, and Requests for Additional Information.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering, scientific discipline, or other related technical fields.
• Experience supporting nuclear licensing, regulatory affairs, or nuclear safety projects.
• Working knowledge of NRC regulations, including 10 CFR and applicable regulatory guidance.
• Strong technical writing, communication, project coordination skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in fast paced multidisciplinary engineering environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced reactors, SMR, Microreactor, or fuel cycle experience.
• NRC licensing under 10 CFR Parts 50, 52, 53 (as applicable), 70, 71, or 72.
• Safety Analysis Reports (SARs), Preliminary Safety Analysis Reports (PSARs), or Final Safety Analysis Reports (FSARs).
