Mechanical Engineer- Nuclear Systems & Components (Job No. 42-081226-1)
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking Mechanical Engineers with a variety of technical backgrounds to support the design, analysis, development, and qualification of nuclear systems and components. Multiple opportunities are available, and candidates are not expected to have experience in all areas listed below. Assignments will be aligned with each candidate’s technical expertise and experience level.
Areas of opportunity may include:
- Piping & Supports- Piping design, stress analysis, seismic/dynamic analysis, and support design.
- Components, Vessels, & Structures- Design and analysis of pressure vessels, reactor internals, supports, and other mechanical components.
- Structural & Thermal-Mechanical Analysis- Finite element analysis, stress, fatigue, creep, thermal, and seismic analysis.
- Mechanical Systems & Component Design- System/component design, specifications, equipment selection, supplier oversight, testing, and integration.
- R&D & Testing- Conceptual design, trade studies, advanced reactor development, test systems, and instrumentation integration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Depending on area of specialization, responsibilities may include:
- Perform mechanical design and engineering analysis of nuclear systems and components.
- Develop and review calculations, specifications, reports, drawings, and other technical documentation.
- Apply applicable ASME codes, nuclear industry standards, quality requirements, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform engineering analysis using tools such as ANSYS, AutoPIPE, or similar software.
- Support design reviews, testing, qualification, manufacturing, and licensing activities.
- Develop solutions to complex mechanical design and integration challenges.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, suppliers, and other technical stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring as appropriate for senior-level positions.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Relevant experience in one or more of the technical areas described above.
- Experience with nuclear systems, components, or other highly regulated applications preferred.
- Experience with applicable engineering codes and standards, including ASME BPVC Section III.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
- Experience with ANSYS, AutoPIPE, CAD, or other applicable engineering tools is desirable.
- P.E. license and/or advanced engineering degree is a plus.
