Job summary

X-energy is seeking a Licensing Engineer to join the Regulatory Affairs team in Rockville, MD. You will lead licensing strategy, coordinate activities across business, licensing, and technical teams, and drive first-of-a-kind deployment approaches for X-energy reactors globally.

Responsibilities include preparing applications, engaging with regulators, and delivering high-quality licensing products while navigating NRC regulations and guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required; strong technical writing and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of nuclear reactor design and operation; ability to analyze regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support licensing activities for reactor certifications, permits and licenses; prepare regulatory engagement plans and technical reports.
• Ensure compliance with NRC regulations and guidance.
• Participate in public meetings, regulatory audits, and business proposals.
• Develop strategic proposals to address novel safety, environmental, and licensing challenges.
• Analyze policy, legislation, and regulations; develop guidance and templates to improve licensing strategies.
• Communicate complex technical and regulatory positions effectively.
• Support planning and executing the X-energy business and licensing strategy.
• Participate in nuclear industry working groups.
