Job summary

Duke Energy is hiring an entry‑ to mid‑level Nuclear Engineer at the Oconee Nuclear Station in Seneca, SC. You will apply engineering fundamentals in a regulated, team‑oriented setting and progressively take on greater independence through a structured qualification program.

The role involves modifying instrumentation and control systems, digital hardware, software, cybersecurity, and plant interfaces, with opportunities to lead projects from concept to turnover.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required for Nuclear Engineer I.
• Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of a B.S.
• Minimum 2 years of engineering experience.
• 1 year of nuclear power plant experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering modifications for electrical, instrumentation and control, digital, software, and cybersecurity‑related systems.
• Define project scope, technical requirements, design basis, installation approach, testing, acceptance criteria, and turnover strategy.
• Prepare accurate, traceable engineering products such as calculations, specifications, drawings, design inputs, evaluations, setpoints, and test plans.
• Develop conceptual designs and technical specifications and coordinate engineering work performed by vendors and external design firms.
• When qualified, serve as the Responsible Engineer and primary technical contact for assigned modifications from design through closeout.
