Job summary

Duke Energy’s Nuclear Fleet Corporate Design Engineering (CDE) department seeks an Electrical Design Engineer III or Senior Electrical Design Engineer for the Oconee Nuclear Station in Seneca, SC. The role focuses on design changes for AC/DC power systems, transformers, switchgear, and related equipment, with emphasis on reliability and modernization.

Candidates should have ABET-accredited engineering education, nuclear plant experience, and strong communication and project-management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Master’s degree in engineering may substitute for the BS degree.
• Minimum nuclear power plant experience required.
• State registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop the scope, technical basis, installation, and testing requirements for design changes.
• Provide engineering guidance for problems of increasing scope and complexity.
• Assist in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring work activities.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations and sketches for well-defined problems.
• Conduct studies and manage projects with increasing independence.
