Job summary

Duke Energy's Nuclear Fleet Corporate Design Engineering (CDE) department seeks an Electrical Design Engineer I or II for the Oconee Nuclear Station in Seneca, SC. You will develop design changes for AC/DC systems, transformers, switchgear, and relaying, with field support during modifications.

Requirements include ABET-accredited EE degree, FE exam, 1–2 years nuclear experience, and interest in PE licensure. Hybrid work model with on-site and remote work after onboarding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• A Master’s degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience.
• Passing grade on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
• Interest in continued professional development and obtaining Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
• Experience in the utility industry, specifically the nuclear industry.
• Experience with nuclear industry standard design process.
• Working knowledge of ETAP software program.

Responsibilities

• Develop the scope, technical basis, installation, and testing requirements for engineering design changes.
• Provide ongoing support of engineering design changes through work order reviews and field installation support.
• Develop or revise design specifications or technical requirements documents.
• Develop or revise complex engineering calculations.
• Revise site design basis documents, design drawings, and regulatory documents.
