Job summary

ENERCON is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Design Engineer to support the Nuclear Design Group in the Huntsville, AL area. This role focuses on safe, reliable operation of nuclear facilities through I&C design, drawings, and documentation.

The position offers a path from mid-level to principal engineering, with opportunities for advancement, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration across disciplines and client projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Electrical, Mechanical or similar engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 3 years' experience designing I&C plant components and controls systems.
• Experience in power generation, nuclear power or DOE projects.
• Strong writing, presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work as an individual contributor and in teams.
• US Citizenship required due to federal contract.

Responsibilities

• Produce precise drawings, calculations, and analyses meeting codes and client expectations.
• Develop engineering documents that meet client, ENERCON, and regulatory requirements.
• Enhance expertise in industry codes, safety culture, and advanced design techniques.
• Deliver engineering solutions aligned with QA programs and client expectations.
• Build trust with clients through clear communication and results.
• Collaborate across disciplines to create integrated designs.
• Provide field support with on-site work and plant walkdowns.
