Job summary

Actalent in Charlotte, NC seeks an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer for nuclear power applications. You will work on design modifications, digital upgrades, and regulatory-compliant I&C projects across plant modernization efforts.

Responsibilities include engineering calculations, design package development, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery during outages and routine operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• Approximately 5+ years of engineering experience focused on Instrumentation & Controls.
• Nuclear power plant or equivalent nuclear environment experience.
• Familiarity with NRC regulations and nuclear standards for I&C projects.
• Experience supporting design modification, modernization, or upgrades in commercial nuclear plants.
• Experience with digital upgrade initiatives and PLC/DCS platforms.
• Understanding of plant modification processes and associated design packages.
• Willingness to travel about one week per month; additional travel during outages.

Responsibilities

• Support I&C modification projects from scope through implementation.
• Perform engineering evaluations, calculations, and analyses for design decisions.
• Develop and update design documents, diagrams, and I&C change packages.
• Support process instrumentation changes (temp, pressure, flow, level).
• Assist with digital modernization from analog to PLC/DCS platforms.
• Review vendor specs and submittals for compliance and suitability.
• Support field walkdowns to verify as-built conditions and feasibility.
• Assist testing, troubleshooting, and plant implementation activities.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, designers, field services, and clients.
