Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation is hiring Nuclear Engineers at Oconee Nuclear Station to develop and support modifications across instrumentation and control systems, power and control electronics, and cybersecurity. You will work with a multidisciplinary team, progressing from concept to installation, through testing and turnover.

Both Nuclear Engineer I and II levels offer structured qualification, mentorship, and increasing ownership as you gain experience in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Engineering is required.
• Master’s degree can substitute for BS in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum two years engineering experience for Nuclear Engineer II.
• One year nuclear power plant experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering modifications for electrical, instrumentation and control, digital, software, and cybersecurity‑related systems.
• Define project scope, technical requirements, design basis, installation approach, testing, acceptance criteria, and turnover.
• Prepare accurate engineering products such as calculations, specifications, drawings, and test plans.
• Evaluate design alternatives, document recommendations and rationale.
• Coordinate work by vendors and external design firms.
