Job summary

S&ME is seeking a Field Geotechnical Engineer or Geologist to support civil, geotechnical and environmental projects with a focus on nuclear sites. Travel out of state for months, with rotations; positions available in Knoxville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Columbia, Atlanta, Greenville-Spartanburg, and Columbus.

You will conduct field investigations, analyze subsurface data, prepare reports, and support QA and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, or related field.
• At least 2 years of geotechnical engineering, geology, or consulting experience.
• Field subsurface exploration experience is required.
• Experience on nuclear projects or in regulated environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Field investigations: soil borings, drilling oversight, monitoring well installation, in-situ testing.
• Analyze subsurface conditions and interpret geological data.
• Prepare data tables, figures, and graphical presentations for reports.
• Develop engineering recommendations based on field and lab data.
• Coordinate with drilling contractors, labs, and project teams.
