Job summary

Radiant, based in El Segundo, CA, seeks a Nuclear Engineer intern to support nuclear design and analysis tasks across shielding, neutronics, and thermal studies. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, documenting results, and contributing to rapid shielding solutions as projects evolve.

Ideal candidates are finishing BS/MS in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering by 2027, with programming skills in Python, C++, or C#.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering (or related).
• Graduating in December 2026 or Spring 2027.
• Strong fundamentals in reactor physics, thermal-hydraulics, and shielding.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, C++, C# or similar).

Responsibilities

• Assist with nuclear design and analysis tasks (shielding, neutronics, thermal, fuel-related studies).
• Support coupled neutronics and thermal calculations to refine models.
• Document methods, results, and findings in technical reports and presentations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical input as projects evolve.
• Support development of rapid shielding design solutions and lower-order models.
• Contribute to uncertainty propagation methodology for Kaleidos Demonstration Unit.
• Perform criticality safety analysis for the Production Plant of Kaleidos reactors.
• Present final project reviews to engineers and leadership.
