Job summary

Radiant in El Segundo, CA is seeking a motivated Nuclear Engineer intern to contribute to shielding, neutronics, thermal, and fuel studies while learning hands-on design in a fast-growing startup.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, document methods in technical reports, and present results to engineers and leadership. Ideal candidates graduate in Dec 2026 or Spring 2027 with coursework in reactor physics and programming.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS or MS in a relevant field with graduation Dec 2026 or Spring 2027.
• Strong foundation in reactor physics, thermal-hydraulics, radiation shielding.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, C++, C#) expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist with nuclear design and analysis tasks, including shielding, neutronics, thermal, and fuel studies.
• Support coupled neutronics and thermal calculations to refine system performance models.
• Document methods, results, and findings in clear technical reports and presentations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical input as projects evolve.
• Support development of rapid shielding design solutions and uncertainty propagation methodologies.
• Perform criticality safety analysis for production facilities and Kaleidos reactors.
• Present final project review at end of internship to engineers and leadership
