Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation in North Carolina is seeking a Civil Nuclear Engineer III or Senior Civil Nuclear Engineer for the McGuire Nuclear Station to support the Design Engineering organization. The role focuses on engineering design changes, seismic and structural analyses, and licensing support to ensure safe, reliable plant operation.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, opportunity for growth, and involvement in a broad range of design and regulatory tasks across the nuclear fleet.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
• 4-6 years of engineering experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop the scope, technical basis, installation and testing requirements for engineering design changes, which include but are not limited to Stress Analysis, Structural Analysis, Dynamic/Seismic Analysis, Steel and Concrete Design.
• Research engineering and design issues, evaluates alternatives, determines and presents recommendations to resolve issues.
• Provide ongoing support of assigned engineering design changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation support activities.
• Develop or revise design/procurement specifications or technical requirements documents to support engineering design changes.
• Develop or revise complex engineering calculations impacted by engineering design changes.
• Develop licensing screens and evaluations that support engineering design changes
• Revise site design basis documents, design drawings, and regulatory documents impacted by engineering design changes.
