Job summary

Duke Energy is hiring a Civil Nuclear Engineer III or Senior Civil Nuclear Engineer at the McGuire Nuclear Station. The role supports the Nuclear Fleet Corporate Design Engineering department as the design authority for multiple sites, focusing on stress, structural, and seismic analyses, with opportunities for growth and development.

Responsibilities include developing design change scopes, evaluating alternatives, and supporting field installations, regulatory documentation, and licensing

Qualifications

• Meets ANSI requirements for Nuclear Operating Fleet Administrative Procedure AD-LS-ALL-0011.
• Bachelor’s in engineering from ABET-accredited program; Master’s may substitute for BS.
• 4–6 years of engineering experience for Engineer III; 6+ years or PE for Senior.
• Nuclear experience preferred; or equivalent oversight/written approval until fully qualified.

Responsibilities

• Develop scope, technical basis, installation and testing requirements for engineering design changes (stress, structural, dynamic/seismic).
• Research engineering issues, evaluate alternatives, and present recommendations.
• Provide ongoing support through work orders, corrective action program, and field installation support.
• Develop/revise design/procurement specifications and technical requirement documents.
• Develop/ revise complex engineering calculations impacted by design changes.
• Develop licensing screens and evaluations supporting design changes.
• Revise site design basis documents, drawings, and regulatory docs related to changes.
