Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking an experienced Nuclear Engineer III at a senior level to solve complex engineering problems with limited supervision. The role emphasizes independent work, project leadership, and applicability of NRC regulations within a broad knowledge base.

The position expects 4–6 years of engineering experience (1 year nuclear) and potential relocation within Duke Energy facilities. A master’s degree may substitute for the BS, with a typical hybrid work setup and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Master’s degree in engineering may substitute for BS.
• 4–6 years engineering experience; 1 year nuclear experience.
• Sr Nuclear Engineer: 6 years engineering or 5 years with PE.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering expertise to identify and resolve complex problems with system-wide impact.
• Plan, organize, estimate, schedule and monitor activities with limited standardization.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and drawings; suggest process improvements.
• Lead complex projects; share knowledge to strengthen the unit.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships; communicate effectively.
• Stay current with new developments, technologies, and equipment.
• Mentor other engineers and non-degreed professionals.
