Job summary

Fissionaire in Madison, WI seeks a skilled CAD Drafter/Modeler to own the 2D/3D CAD workflow for nuclear system components. You will translate engineering intent into precise, build-ready drawings and support cross-functional teams across mechanical, nuclear, and thermal-hydraulic disciplines.

You will ensure drawings adhere to ASME NQA-1/ANSI standards, GD&T practices, and rigorous documentation controls, with a focus on quality, traceability, and vendor interfaces.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years experience as a drafter/modeler.
• Experience in CAD design for nuclear, energy, aerospace, or regulated industries.
• Proficient with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, fabrication methods.
• Experience with nuclear-industry standards (ASME, ASTM, RCC-MRx).
• Ability to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, and system schematics.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent status required.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD models for nuclear components and structures.
• Translate requirements into manufacturable drawings.
• Maintain configuration control and drawing standards per QA frameworks.
• Support design reviews with accurate models and tolerance analyses.
• Collaborate with mechanical, nuclear, thermal-hydraulic, and systems engineers.
• Conduct CAD simulations, clash detection, fit-up validation.
• Assist vendor interface with fabrication packages and queries.
• Contribute to CAD workflow improvements.
