Job summary

X-energy is seeking a CAD designer to develop 3D models and 2D drawings for reactor/plant equipment and SSCs. You will coordinate with responsible engineers, prepare assembly drawings, and maintain CAD data in the PLM system, ensuring standardization across projects.

The role requires strong experience with 3D/2D CAD tools, design for manufacturability, and adherence to industry standards. Onsite work in Gaithersburg, MD with typical 8–5 hours and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in drafting, CAD, engineering or related degree or high school diploma with related experience.
• Experience with 3D CAD software UG/NX, SolidWorks, Creo/Pro-E or similar.
• Experience with 2D CAD software AutoCAD, SmartPlant Electrical, Microstation, Revit or similar.
• Understanding of electrical engineering codes and safety standards.
• Experience in electrical/power systems design per standards.
• Experience using PLM software Teamcenter or Windchill.
• Typically ten years of CAD/3D drafter/designer experience.
• Experience at X-energy meeting performance standards may substitute years.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of equipment, plant layout and SSCs.
• Assess manufacturability and assembly considerations of designs.
• Prepare and update manufacturing drawings for engineering projects.
• Serve as information source on planning and design of equipment installations.
• Maintain design notes, BOMs, and parameter lists for current and future reference.
• Follow XE processes and CAD best practices, coordinating with team members.
• Collaborate on planning, scheduling, and organization of detailed engineering phases.
• Maintain file guidelines for up-to-date drawings and PLM data.
