Job summary

Collectors Universe, Inc. is seeking a Staff NPI Engineer to lead end-to-end part qualification and tooling initiatives for high-volume plastics projects. You will drive new tool sets from kickoff to production release and coordinate design transfers to domestic and international suppliers.

Based in Santa Ana, CA, the role emphasizes PPAP/FAI, GD&T, and cross-functional collaboration with product development and operations to ensure seamless NPI handoffs and globally consistent standards.

Qualifications

8+ years in NPI or manufacturing engineering roles in high-precision, high-volume environments.
Proven experience managing plastics and injection molding tooling programs.
Experience with ultrasonic welding is highly desirable.
Fluent in PPAP/FAI, GD&T, and supplier qualification processes.
Strong cross-functional project management; able to hold global suppliers to schedule and quality commitments.

Responsibilities

Own the global part qualification process end-to-end, driving cycle time and removing bottlenecks.
Lead implementation of new injection molding tool sets from kick-off through production release.
Manage new design transfers to domestic and international offices, ensuring process requirements are validated before handoff.
Partner with product development and operations to execute smooth NPI handoffs from DFM through first article.
Define and deploy global standards of work for NPI, building repeatable playbooks across all supplier sites.
