The GEO Group Australia Pty Ltd. is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to diagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic illness for inmates, and to promote health and prevention within a correctional setting.

You will order, perform, or interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications under physician oversight, developing comprehensive treatment plans and documenting care in medical records. Flexibility for after‑hours coverage is required, with the goal of delivering high‑quality

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing or physician assistant studies.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice as a RN/NP or PA in the state, plus a DEA license.
• Two years of advanced practice experience preferred.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to perform basic surgical procedures.
• Ability to administer prescribed medications.
• Ability to perform physical assessments and diagnose illnesses.
• Ability to initiate diagnostic tests and evaluate results.
• Ability to manage patient care and coordinate work.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proficient with computers and departmental software.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine medical examinations on inmates or detainees.
• Diagnoses and treats acute and chronic illnesses.
• Provides medical treatment with physician oversight.
• Develops treatment plans and prognosis.
• Prescribes medications per licensure and guidelines.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic tests with physician oversight.
• Counsels patients on regimens and potential interactions.
• Educates patients on self-management of illnesses.
• Schedules follow-up visits and maintains records.
• Maintains knowledge of licensure requirements and state regulations.
• Available for twenty‑four hour coverage as assigned.
