Job summary

Environmental Science Associates (ESA) is seeking a Northwest Business Development Leader for Environmental Planning & Infrastructure. Based in Seattle or Portland, you will drive regional growth, lead major pursuits, and mentor teams while strengthening client relationships.

You will work on-site part-time (2-3 days/week) and collaborate with practice leaders to advance projects in environmental planning and permitting across the Northwest and nationally.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, environmental science, natural resources, engineering, geography, or related field.
• 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in environmental consulting or 13 years with an advanced degree.
• Demonstrated success developing business, winning projects, and growing client relationships.
• Strong experience managing environmental planning and permitting projects (NEPA, SEPA, regulatory permitting).
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring staff.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement regional growth strategies for Environmental Planning and Infrastructure throughout the Northwest.
• Lead pursuits for major projects and expand ESA’s presence in public infrastructure and related markets.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with public agencies, utilities, and private developers.
• Collaborate with marketing and proposal teams to develop winning pursuit strategies and proposals.
• Mentor project managers and technical staff in business development and client management.
