Job summary

WestLand Engineering and Environmental Services, a Trinity Consultants team, seeks an Assistant Department Director, Cultural Resources Northwest to lead projects and mentor staff in the Pacific Northwest.

Based in Portland or Seattle, you will manage project scopes, budgets, and client relationships while expanding our cultural resources practice with strategic business development and high-quality deliverables. The role requires advanced degrees and a track record of senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Anthropology or related field; a bachelor's with additional experience acceptable.
  • 10+ years of experience in Cultural Resources Management.
  • 5+ years in supervisory/leadership capacity in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Ability to lead a diverse team and develop business relationships.
  • Expertise in applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Experience in a consulting environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Project Manager and Principal Investigator on cultural resources projects for public and private clients.
  • Collaborate with archaeologists, preservation professionals, and support staff to deliver high‑quality solutions.
  • Provide leadership through performance management, training, and staff development.
  • Identify staffing needs and assist with hiring processes.
  • Develop and schedule staff training programs.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Support Cultural Resources Project Managers in developing their projects.
  • Develop or review technical products for accuracy and quality.
  • Set business development goals and provide go/no-go assessments.
  • Grow department revenue through business development and process efficiency.
