Job summary

WestLand Engineering and Environmental Services, a Trinity Consultants team, seeks an Assistant Department Director, Cultural Resources Northwest, based in Portland or Seattle. This role leads Project Managers and helps acquire new clients for WestLand, while the Pacific Northwest practice covers prehistoric cultures, archaeology, archival research, and cultural-landscape studies.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Anthropology or related field; a bachelor's with experience may be considered.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in Cultural Resources Management.
  • Five (5) or more years supervisory/leadership in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a diverse team of professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop business relationships and generate new clients.
  • Expertise in applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Experience working in a consulting environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Project Manager and/or Principal Investigator on cultural resources projects for public and private clients.
  • Collaborate with archaeologists, preservation professionals, and staff to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Provide leadership through performance reviews, training, and corrective action plans.
  • Identify staffing needs and assist with hiring processes.
  • Develop and schedule staff training programs.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets in line with contracts.
  • Support Cultural Resources Project Managers in developing and managing projects.
  • Develop and/or review technical products for accuracy and quality.
  • Set business development goals and provide go/no-go assessments.
  • Grow department revenue through business development and efficiency.
