Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Director, North America Benefits in the US and Canada to own the strategic direction of retirement, health and welfare, and wellbeing programs. You will lead a team of benefits managers and analysts across both countries, partnering with Reward, the People team and business leaders to design and deliver programs that attract and retain talent while optimizing value.

This role emphasizes governance, vendor management and data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in a broad benefits-focused role, including 5+ years leading teams.
  • Experience across US and Canada benefit programs including retirement, health and welfare.
  • Strong regulatory knowledge: IRS, DOL, ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA and FMLA.
  • Proven ability to build business cases and write papers for committees and the Board.
  • Ability to influence across HR and business without formal authority.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, implementation and delivery of NA benefit programs across US and Canada.
  • Oversee budgeting, vendor management and cost optimization.
  • Coach and develop benefits managers and analysts across NA.
  • Ensure compliance and governance of NA benefit plans (ERISA, etc.).
  • Communicate strategy and drive employee engagement with benefits platforms.
  • Develop data-driven proposals and benchmark against market practice.
  • Support global benefits agenda with the Director, International Benefits and HR M&A.
