Job summary

CLA is seeking a Controller for our CAAS practice to serve nonprofit clients across our Chicago, Missouri, Indiana, and Ohio locations. You will act as a trusted advisor, providing accounting and financial guidance while managing multiple client engagements and deadlines.

The role requires eight years of relevant accounting experience and a bachelor's degree; public accounting and nonprofit experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Eight years of accounting/financial experience required.
• Bachelor's degree required; combination of related experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Nonprofit experience preferred.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Controller for designated clients you service.
• Advise clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
• Provide project management by handling multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster opportunities and attend industry events and trainings.
• Maintain knowledge of client policies, federal/state policies, and current accounting standards.
• Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives and actions.
