Job summary

CLA is seeking a Controller for our Non-Profit Services (CAAS) practice, with opportunities in Illinois locations. You will act as the Controller for designated nonprofit clients, advising on accounting best practices and managing multiple engagements.

Ideal candidates have eight years of accounting experience, a bachelor’s degree, and nonprofit or public accounting background. CPA preferred; competitive compensation and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Eight years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree required; combination of related experience, education and training may be accepted.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Experience in nonprofit is highly preferred.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Prior project management and client management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Controller for the designated clients you service.
• Advise clients on best practices for accounting and finance engagements.
• Provide project management by handling multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster opportunities and attend industry events and trainings.
• Maintain knowledge of client policies, federal/state directives, and current accounting standards.
• Advise management on short- and long-term financial objectives and actions.
