Job summary

Leoforce is assisting a Maryland-based nonprofit client in finding a hands-on Senior Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations, strengthen financial controls, and provide timely financial insight to leadership.

You will own general ledger integrity, monthly close, reconciliations, schedules, and financial statement preparation, partnering across departments to address budget, cash flow, and funding challenges with a strong emphasis on process improvement and cross-functional

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s or CPA preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of general ledger accounting and financial management experience, ideally in nonprofit.
• Proficiency in SAGE and Paycor software.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and legislation.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Excellent leadership and team development abilities.
• Strong communication skills for presenting complex financials to stakeholders.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and multi‑tasking in a fast-paced environment.
• High integrity and urgency with results‑orientation.

Responsibilities

• Manage all general ledger activities with disciplined accounting policies.
• Oversee reimbursement processes and ensure timely claim settlements.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and prepare detailed reports.
• Utilize SAGE for accounting operations and financial statement prep.
• Develop and maintain accounting schedules for data integrity and reporting.
• Prepare and manage the organization’s budget and forecast with heads of departments.
• Coordinate and prepare for annual audits and ensure compliance with standards.
• Utilize Paycor for payroll management and accurate processing.
• Conduct variance analysis, identify trends, and propose improvements.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and training to the accounting team.
