Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager in Baltimore to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, the general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, and timely financial reporting. This hands-on role will supervise staff and partner with leadership to maintain strong internal controls and accurate reporting across departments.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, and a solid grasp of U.S. GAAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience preparing financial statements, variance analysis, and financial reports.
• Previous experience supervising or reviewing the work of accounting staff.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience working with accounting, expense management, payroll, and reporting systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the general ledger and monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, allocations, and account review.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules; investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting; assist with budgeting and forecasting.
• Monitor revenue, expenses, cash flow, and other activity; oversee restricted funds and grants as applicable.
• Review accounts payable, payroll-related accounting, and other transactional activity; strengthen internal controls.
• Supervise, train, and review accounting staff; partner with department leaders to improve reporting and accountability.
• Support annual audits, tax filings, financial reporting, and system/process improvements.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen the accounting function.
