Job summary

Project Harmony Child Protection Center is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our finance team in Omaha, NE. You will prepare accurate financial information, manage monthly close, and track grants to support programs and services for child protection.

Work closely with the Finance Manager and program leaders to ensure allocations, budgets, and projections are correct and well-documented. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, 3+ years of progressive accounting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
  • Non-profit accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries and cost allocations for posting to the general ledger to ensure financial statements are accurately presented.
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly and perform related journal entries.
  • Process cash receipt and deposit transactions.
  • Support payroll and grant accounting processes assigned.
  • Reconcile and prepare financial support for general ledger accounts and recommend adjustments where necessary; assist in identifying trends in account activity and financial presentations.
  • Follow timely month-end procedures for processing accurate financial information.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with the annual financial audit process and work with the independent auditors.
  • Assist in financial policy updates for the agency that reflect best practices in the field.
  • Keep current on accounting and auditing standards.
  • Maintain technical knowledge and acquire new accounting skills to ensure Project Harmony is fully adhering to non-profit and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, as needed, to maximize the quality of work within the duties and responsibilities listed.
  • Ensure culturally competent services are provided without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, gender or sexual orientation.
  • Complete special projects and other accounting-related duties as assigned
