Summary

Duties
  • You will serve as the nondestructive test inspector representative at ship project meetings and strategy sessions.
  • You will work with Assistant Project Managers, Zone Managers and Nondestructive Test Inspection Branch Head to plan work for subordinates based on the established project and nondestructive inspection schedules.
  • You will determine the number and types of nondestructive test inspectors needed to accomplish assigned work.
  • You will plan, coordinate, supervise and review the work of subordinate nondestructive test inspection personnel and meet schedules.

  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Ability to lead or supervise
  • Performing naval shipyard repair and overhaul specification of SUBSAFE, nuclear interface and non-nuclear systems, testing Radiography Level II, Ultrasonic Shearwave, Eddy Current Tubing Analysis, Radiographer-In-Charge (RIC).
  • Supervising personnel, administer management policies, and procedures and to coordinate functions between various groups to accomplish intended goals.
  • Experience in all areas of nondestructive testing, inclusive of Eddy Current, Radiology, Ultrasonic Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant and Visual Inspections.
  • Knowledge of operating goals, objectives and programs to adequately support the various projects with qualified personnel and equipment.
  • Conducting daily job site reviews and provide surveillance of in-process inspection operations.
  • Utilizing safety practices and procedures following established safety rules.
