Summary

You will serve as a MACHINIST SUPERVISOR I in the MECHANICAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties
  • You will fully support the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Program.
  • You will supervise assembly of finished parts, repair and refitting’s of shipboard components.
  • You will consult with engineers, shop planners, schedulers, planners and estimators on technical problems to avoid delays and conform to schedules.
  • You will ensure efficient and economical accomplishment of work assignments through subordinates, within the general work schedules set by higher levels of supervision.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
