Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) is seeking a Non-Credit Pharmacy Technician Adjunct Instructor for its Workforce and Continuing Education Division, primarily at the Lebanon Center. Instructional workload will be based on demand in surrounding communities serviced by the College.

The candidate must be self-motivated and capable of creating a student-oriented learning environment. The successful candidate must hold a Virginia pharmacist license or a Virginia Pharmacy Technician

Qualifications

  • Must hold VA pharmacist license or VA Pharmacy Technician Certification.
  • Minimum of three years pharmacy technician work.
  • Ability to teach in online, hybrid, and face-to-face formats.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology and LMS.
  • Strong record-keeping and assessment abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and deliver course content in-person, hybrid, and virtual formats.
  • Facilitate student learning through effective instruction and engagement strategies.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, progress, competencies, and outcomes records.
  • Utilize LMS and technology to support teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
  • Provide consistent communication and virtual support to promote student success.
  • Collaborate with program coordinators to identify equipment, supplies, and resources for instruction.
  • Assist with coordinating practicum, clinical, or experiential learning opportunities.
  • Support continuous improvement and professional development activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. Located in Richlands, Virginia, SWCC offers associate’s degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. SWCC also has associate’s degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.

Southwest Virginia Community College is seeking a Non-Credit Pharmacy Technician Adjunct Instructor for its Workforce and Continuing Education Division. This position will work primarily at the Lebanon Center location. Instructional workload will be based on demand in surrounding communities serviced by the College. The successful candidate must be self‑motivated, able to multi‑task, and create a student‑oriented learning environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Plan, organize, and deliver all course content in a variety of instructional formats, including in-person, hybrid, and virtual learning environments.
  • Facilitate student learning through effective instruction, assessment, communication, and engagement strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, competencies, and outcomes.
  • Utilize relevant technology and learning management systems to support teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
  • Provide consistent communication, virtual support, and student engagement strategies to promote student success.
  • Collaborate with program coordinators to identify equipment, supplies, and resources needed to support classroom and laboratory instruction.
  • Assist with coordinating and placing students in practicum, clinical, or experiential learning opportunities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in professional development activities related to teaching and learning.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Current unrestricted Virginia pharmacist license or current Pharmacy Technician Certification with Virginia registration.
  • Minimum of three years of pharmacy technician work.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and competency in pharmacy practice and pharmacy technician education.
  • Ability to effectively teach and engage students in both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments.
  • Proficiency in using instructional technology, learning management systems, and virtual teaching tools.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and assess student performance and competencies.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to teach in a variety of instructional modalities, including online, hybrid, and face‑to‑face formats.
Additional Considerations
  • Prior teaching or training experience in pharmacy technology or a related healthcare field.
  • Experience teaching in online or hybrid learning environments.
  • Experience developing curriculum and online courses for both synchronous and asynchronous delivery.
  • Demonstrated success using innovative instructional methods and technologies in higher education or workforce training settings.
  • Experience working with regional employers, clinical partners, or practicum placement sites.
