Job summary

Easterseals New Jersey is seeking an ASL Interpreter for our Central NJ program (Middlesex and Somerset Counties). The role involves providing interpreting support for staff, clients, and community partners across meetings, trainings, and events. A RID certification and 5+ years of experience are required.

Intended for candidates able to drive as this role requires travel to various sites. The position offers comprehensive benefits and a collaborative, accessible work environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Interpreting or related field; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• RID Interpreter Certification is required.
• 5+ years interpreting experience; Deaf culture familiarity.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Excellent problem solving, planning and organization skills; proficient with Zoom.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting support for Easterseals staff, clients, and external agencies.
• Interpret for staff meetings, trainings, town halls, and other stakeholder meetings.
• Mentor and develop less experienced interpreters and create professional development plans.
• Develop curricula to train novice interpreting staff.
• Conduct sign language skill assessments for potential hires.
• Provide skill feedback and conduct regular follow-up meetings with staff.
