Job summary

Easterseals of New Jersey is seeking a full-time Skills Trainer to support high school students with hearing loss through Pre-ETS, soft skills development, and independent living skills. The role requires collaboration with families, DVRs, schools, and local employers to create meaningful work-based learning opportunities and smooth transitions.

Applicants should have ASL fluency, a Bachelor’s degree preference, and knowledge of accessibility legislation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Fluent in ASL with knowledge of assistive technology.
• Knowledge of Section 504, ADA, and WIOA preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass SLCE test within 5 months.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individual and group Pre-ETS to high school students with hearing loss (ages 14-21).
• Provide services, engage families, and conduct intake interviews and assessments.
• Collaborate with DVR counselors, schools and families to monitor IEP transition plans.
• Build relationships with businesses, colleges, and organizations to secure work-based learning placements.
• Organize inclusive community events and training to promote independence and accessibility.
• Maintain documentation and reports to ensure grant compliance.
