Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine seeks a Registered Nurse to diagnose and treat health problems using nursing methods, teaching and counseling. You will provide supportive and restorative care while following a medical regimen and coordinating with the care team.

Responsibilities include assessing patients, developing individualized care plans, administering medications, maintaining infection control, and documenting education and patient outcomes in the medical record.

Qualifications

• Possession of or eligibility for a New York State RN license.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
• At least one year of acute hospital care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs; coordinate care with other health disciplines to align the nursing regimen with the treatment plan.
• Develop a written individualized care plan including teaching needs and discharge planning.
• Administer direct care and medications as needed.
• Practice infection control and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Document patient education and responses in the medical record; communicate changes to the Charge RN/Clinician.
• Participate in unit or hospital quality assurance activities.
